We Are Thankful

We Are Thankful

Each year we host a Thanksgiving luncheon for the children in our foster care program. We do our best to invite siblings, biological parents, and other family members who are important to these children. For some, this gathering marks the first time siblings have been all together in years. It is a deeply meaningful day.
 
This year was no exception. We hired a professional photographer to capture both the joy of the celebration and family portraits that these children will treasure.
 
As always, our dedicated staff was on hand to help, joined by Board members and other friends of Red Mountain who served dinner, kept things running smoothly, and shared smiles with everyone.
 
New this year was the addition of children who are in the CYFD system but not currently in foster care placements. Throughout our state, some children need foster families, but there simply aren’t enough homes available. These children spend their nights in CYFD facilities with CYFD staff. When CYFD asked if we could open our luncheon to include these children, we were honored to welcome them.

Fashion Show

Recently, Red Mountain Family Services hosted our first Fashion Show. We frequently host events for the children in our care, and for the Treatment Foster Families that work so hard to care for these children. When one of the children expressed their desire to have a Fashion Show, we thought why not? We were surprised that so many of our kids wanted to participate. And we were so proud with how the kids overcame their fears to walk the runway. It was a really fun day.

Spreading the Love for Luggage for Kids

A Huge Thank You to our friends Belinda Franco and the Venturi Realty Group. These realtors and all of their community made Valentine's Day extra special this year for over 100 of New Mexico's Children in Foster Care. By donating and collecting new pieces of luggage, toiletries, stuffed animals and more. Luggage for Kids, a non profit  run, at no cost, by Red Mountain Family Services, gives luggage to children in New Mexico's foster care system. The simple act of giving a piece of luggage to a child that enters the foster care system is the first step in their journey .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fj8eRfcsbk
