We accept cash, new luggage, plush animals, and children's books. Please note that 100% of your donation goes to Luggage for Kids, because Red Mountain Family Services, Inc. has absorbed all of the administrative costs for this charity.

Why Luggage for Kids
Children enter the foster care system with all of their belongings in a trash bags. They are scared and confused about what will happen to them and their family. Luggage for Kids was started so that these children can feel cared for and respected. It is our hope that having new luggage will set the stage so that their experience in the foster care system can be focused on improving their life and making sure they are safe and secure.
New Starts With Dignity
Because this problem is not isolated to our program, our community, or even our state, in January 2008, Red Mountain Family Services decided to provide new luggage to every child in foster care in New Mexico. We believe so strongly in the power of this small act of kindness that Red Mountain Family Services, Inc. has absorbed all the administrative costs for this charity, and 100% of donations go toward buying new luggage for kids.
To date, we have distributed more than 2,000 pieces of luggage throughout New Mexico to foster children through their local CYFD offices. Many local businesses have held luggage drives to make this possible, like the one shown in the photo here. In 2021, Weichert, Realtors-Image held its first drive for Luggage for Kids. Just a day before, these three brave siblings were on their way to their forever home with relatives in another state. They came to this drive and got to pick out new luggage for their new journey.
